The luxury watchmaker Rolex is closing its production sites in Geneva, Bienne and Crissier (Vaud) from this Tuesday and until Friday, March 27, in order to protect employees and their families in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.

The brand made this decision “following the measures announced yesterday (Monday) by the Federal Council to stop the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Switzerland,” a spokesperson for Rolex told AWP. “This date may be postponed depending on the evolution of the epidemic and the recommendations of the authorities,” she added.

The brand managed by Jean-Frédéric Dufour did not want to say how many employees were affected by these measures. On its website, Rolex boasts more than 6,000 employees on four Swiss sites.
