Pussy Riot members Alekhina and Stein go on hunger strike in Sakharovo detention center.

The arrested Pussy Riot participants Maria Alekhina and Lyusya Stein went on a hunger strike because of the ban on communication – in the Sakharovo detention center they were placed in different cells. This was announced on Friday, December 25, by the Telegram- channel “House of Cards: Moscow .

It was reported that Alekhina and Stein were arrested on long-standing incidents. Alekhina in 2015 posted on a social network a portrait of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko , surrounded by Indian patterns similar to Nazi swastikas. In 2018, Stein made a repost on the social network of “fotoeba”, in which a Nazi cap was photographed to her portrait – this is a frame from a video directed against her.

According to some reports, they are also allowed to walk only at different times, which excludes their communication with each other. For attempts to correspond, the administration threatens to apply “Disobedience to the lawful order of an employee of the institution of the penitentiary system”, which may lead to an extension of the term of detention.

Earlier in September, Alekhina was sentenced to one year in prison. The Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR) accused her and nine other opposition members of incitement to violate sanitary and epidemiological standards by calling for participation in protest actions on 23 January.
