Proteo, the search and rescue dog from Mexico that came to participate in search and rescue efforts after the earthquakes in Turkey, lost his life.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our great companion dog Proteo,” the Mexican Ministry of Defense said in a statement.In Turkey you fulfilled your duty as a member of the Mexican Delegation in the search and rescue of our brothers. Thank you for your heroic work.”
Besides their search and rescue team Mexico also donated material aid.
In cooperation with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and the Mexican International Development Cooperation Agency (AMEXCID), 3 tons of aid materials were sent to Turkey following the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş, which were described as the “disaster of the century”.
