Donโt worry, there are a few more for sale.
According to Artnet , a banana duct-taped to a wall at Basel Miami Beach this week – was sold at $120,000. This, not one of a kind art instalation, presented by an artist Maurizio Cattelan is already sold to two different buyers, with the third now going for $150,000.
The work was presented Wednesday by Perrotin, a contemporary art gallery founded in Paris that has had a long association with the Italian artist.
The piece of art is named “Comedian,” and it comprises a banana bought in a Miami grocery store and a single piece of duct tape. Still not confirmed if this is a 3M Heavy Duty Duct Tape or a no-name reproduction.
As for a banana, it is believed that it is made by Dole bananas.
Cattelan has been working on the idea for “Comedian” for about a year.
Cattelan is known for 18-carat-gold toilet sculpture (named America), valued at around $6 million, stolen in September from Blenheim Palace in England.
